If you then drive on to Monnickendam you will find a cosy place where you can drink a nice drink on a cosy terrace by the water. Here you will also find the best ice cream in the area. If you drive on to the Marken peninsula, you will drive via a long straight dike with a special view of the Gouwzee. A great trip to a special village!
At the end of the dike you arrive in Marken, a cheerful village with many authentic features. The special wooden houses, the old harbor and the atmosphere in the village give you an impression of how people have lived here for years. Not only Marken itself is beautiful to see, the lighthouse Het Paard van Marken, and the clog factory in the area are also more than worth a visit. In the harbour of Marken you will find the Marken Express, with which you sail towards Volendam. The trip is not only cosy on deck with a nice drink, it is also a beautiful trip. The view of the Gouwzee is nice, the news you hear along the way is interesting. When you arrive in the harbour of Volendam, you can have a nice photo taken in traditional costume as a conclusion and of course explore Volendam yourself extensively.
